HIGHLIGHTS OF A WRITER'S LIFE @kathleenlawless #romancegems

There are many notable moments in the life of an author.  Some are life-changing, like the call from an agent or publisher with an offer.  In today’s indie world, it is more likely to be hitting “Publish” on that very first book to be sent out to be scrutinized by the world.

It can be hitting a best-seller list, receiving a glowing review, or a reader letter telling the author how the book touched her life.

It can be connecting with other authors, readers who become fans, or randomly meeting a stranger who has not only heard of the writer, but has read and enjoyed their work.   (This happened to me once in Mexico on vacation and it is right up there as a truly memorable moment)

It can be helping other writers on the journey to success, or hearing that a certain story helped someone through a rough patch.  Then there is that rare but magic moment when the story takes on a life of its own and the writer becomes simply a dicta-typist getting the words down as fast as the characters spew them out.

On the marketing front, I have heard time and again how difficult it is to get accepted by Bookbub to have a book featured.  Since rejection is my middle name (there have been countless rejections over the years in my career), I recently decided to give it a try.  To my absolute amazement and delight (think winning the lottery) my Western Historical Romance, Anora’s Pride was chosen to be featured on February 9th.
I really don’t play favorites among my stories, (much like my children) but this particular work touched a special place in me.  I actually cried at one point during the writing.

Today only, you can pick up Anora on sale for just .99 and meet Jesse Quantrill, the hero Romantic Times describes as, “steams his way into every woman’s heart with his bad-boy-turned-hero machismo.”

  22. Woo hoo on hitting #1 in Western Romance, Kathleen! That's great! And it's so true about those favorite moments. I was stunned - in a good way - when someone approached me at a paranormal convention to say they were reading my book. She even pulled it up on her phone to prove it. Destination = Cloud 9
