Autumn...Bah! Humbug! by @BonnieEdwards

Okay, I've heard enough here about how lovely Fall is. The colours! The crisp air! The cozy nights with a lit fire.

Clearly, our other Romance Gems are not from the PNW. Fall here means darkness, gray skies and rain. Gloom with a capital G. It's worse just this bit north of the border.

It looks like this:

Okay, yes, I used this same image in a whiny post last year, too. But it still fits.

Already, we have our furnace on and the gas fireplaces take the chill out of the living room and the basement man cave. I've already put our winter weight duvet on the bed.

And, I've started talking about warmer climes to explore for our winter break. I can hardly wait.

And just to ease YOUR pain with all this talk of cold, wind and rain, I offer my sexy, fun, novella, Slow Hand, set in the warm, sultry Caribbean to not one but two lucky readers! See details below.

Every Day is Treat Day in October. To be entered in the random drawing for SLOW HAND, leave a comment with your email address written out (not as a hot link). The deadline for doing this is 2 days from now. I’ll draw the winners name on October 8 and notify the winner by email and by leaving a comment on this post.

By the way, in case you wonder why Authors give away books, it’s simple. We give away books to introduce new Readers to our writing. The best way to thank an Author who gives you a book is to post a review of the book. Just a few sentences saying why you liked the book is all that is needed! Do this, and we’ll adore you!

Click here to enter our No Tricks—Just Treats Rafflecopter today for a chance to win Amazon Gift Cards. Enter often and tell your friends! (You can also click Monthly Giveaways on the Menu Bar of the blog to see details of the current month’s Rafflecopter and to enter it.)

  1. Honestly, when I was teaching, fall wasn't a favorite because it meant end of summer vacation and back to work!

    1. I do tend to settle into my writing in the Fall, though. Something about the year end coming that gets me into work mode.

  2. I can't imagine what it's like to live where the cold becomes a cage. I would hate it, too! I love the title of your book. Gave me a little jump of excitement!

    1. It’s not that cold here (I have a palm tree, after all) but it’s the gloom of cloudy days...never ending gloom. SAD is real!

  3. I lived in the San Francisco area for 9 years and the worst part was when it got dark by 4:30 in the afternoon! One nice thing about central Florida is that we only have about a month when it's dark early (and that means 6ish). My birthday is sometimes (like this year) the first day of Fall, but other than that, I start thinking of Winter as soon as Fall arrives, and I much prefer Spring and Summer! 4. Actually, here in Miss. I think we had the hottest Sept. on record! High 90's and higher humidity! Thankfully, it's down to the 80's today, everyone hoping this is the beginning of fall. after record flooding earlier this year, we are now in a drought and under a burn ban. Oh well. I'd love to be entered to win one of your books.

    1. Thanks Martha! Humidity kills me...I’d have to live inside. which would be just as bad s living in. Blizzard I think. I like to be outside! I understand drought...we live with fire bans too. This summer we got enough rain to have a better fire season...but fire is scary these days!

  5. Not entering just commenting. I love fall. I can’t take summer’s heat so fall is welcome. Also, I love Christmas and fall starts me anticipating Christmas. Now, all that’s necessary is for Texas weather to relent and give in to cooler temperatures.

  6. Most people love fall here because the weather finally cools down, but I have to admit that I'm a summer gal myself. Give me those hundred degree temps any day! (well, maybe not every single day, but summer days for sure!)

  7. I'm pleased to announce that both commenters have won an ebook! For Karen, who already owns Slow Hand, I'll send along the third Branton book, Whole Lot o' Love. For Martha, it will be Slow Hand...a sultry, sexy novella set in the Caribbean. Cheers ladies and happy reading!

  8. I'm in New Jersey and you're right - people are raving about the beautiful colors and crisp air etc etc. It just reminds me that pretty soon it's going to be dark and cold, and I'm not even up north like you are! I can't just toss on a pair of sandals and go outside. Ick!!!!
