Coffee and Conversation with the #RomanceGems

It's time for Coffee and Conversation with the Romance Gems! So, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and join us for some fun. This month's topic is: What's your favorite thing about weddings?

Ahh…wedding season! As romance authors we typically love this “season of love” and weddings in general. So, tell me…What’s your favorite thing about weddings? A tradition or new trend? Something from your own special day? Or perhaps from one of your books?

"The vows. Hearing people say those words of commitment in front of friends and family gets me in the heart every time." ~ Bonnie Edwards

“My favorite thing about a wedding is when the wedding march begins and everyone looks to see the bride. But I always watch the groom to see his face when he gets that first look of his future wife. In that instant you can see the love and hope for all that is ahead of the couple. It's magic.” ~ Lucinda Race

“My favorite thing about weddings is that it gives everybody a chance to celebrate love - wholeheartedly and unabashedly.”
~ Satin Russell

“To me, my first wedding was the only time in my life when I could plan my own royal pageant and be queen for a day. I fondly remember picking out music with my father and aunt. Music was so important to our family history.”
~ Jan Scarbrough

“When I was younger, the thing I loved most about weddings was getting to hang out and have fun with my friends. A few drinks, dancing the night away, and having a blast. Now that I'm old, I don't have as many weddings to go to. But when I do, I'm there for the food.” ~ Kari Lemor

“My favorite thing about weddings is the way it brings family and friends together in celebration. In today's busy world, it's nice to have that one day, those few hours, to reminisce in a loving atmosphere.” ~ Nancy Fraser

“My favorite thing about weddings is the look on the bride and groom’s faces. It’s pure love!” ~ Karen Kelley

“The clothes. I really love the clothes! What the bride is wearing, of course, along with her attendants. That goes without saying. But what are the guys wearing? The parents? And the people attending the wedding. Oh, and let’s not forget the shoes. And the hats. The handbags. If I shed a few tears during the ceremony, which I usually do, even better.” ~ Kathleen Lawless

“I love that everyone comes together to celebrate the love two people have found. It's all about the love. When the cake is gone and the band plays their last song, the love lives on.” ~ Peggy Jaeger

“I love the dressing up! I spend so much of my time in casual clothes that it's nice to get a little fancy. Then, of course, I can't wait to get those damn heels off!”
~ Elsa Kurt

“What I like best about weddings is the happiness that seems to float in the air. Optimism and joy reign supreme. I'll admit to liking something else too—the dramatic pause when the Minister asks if anyone objects to the marriage. I've always waited for someone to shout, "Stop the wedding." That never happened so I wrote STILL THE ONE, a romantic comedy where the heroine does exactly that.” ~ Joan Reeves

“Actually, I'm not a big fan of weddings, but I do love marriage and all that it means. When, every now and then, you attend a wedding and know right down to the soles of your feet that it's a marriage that's meant to be, I think that's my favorite thing.”
~ Liz Flaherty

"I'm a fan of all things wedding, from the vows and first dances to the clothing and flowers. But I must say I'm truly impressed by the many different desserts couples are choosing these days. Traditional wedding cake is no longer the only option. Cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, pies, donuts, and even candy/confectionery bars are wowing guests. It's super-fun!"
~ Kathryn Hills

  1. I always want to catch a glimpse of the groom's face when he first comes out or before the vows start. If there's a bride waiting, I want to see her and how excited she is. And of course the kiss to seal the deal at the end. Yahoo! What a day.
