Movies, anyone? by @ConstanceBretes #RomanceGems

Been thinking about movies. Since we all have probably been watching a lot of them due to the quarantine. Which one of my books would I like to see made into a movie. Well, I have several I think would be movie worthy, not Hallmark movie worthy, my books are too raunchy for that. A more fitting channel may be Lifetime or UP.

The best book I wrote that I think would be a great movie is Midnight Escape. The hero is a commercial crab fisherman who’s stomping grounds is the middle of the Bering Sea. The heroine is an RN, on the run from the mob. The heroine is about to embark on the adventure of her life. Yep, can you see where this is going?

Another book of mine that I think would make a great movie is Love, A Second Time Around. The hero and the heroine are both trying to get their life back, and between them are two little boys. Children have a way of stealing your heart, and these two do just that.

A third book I would like to see made into a movie is Jade’s Redemption. A woman in the pits of hell is brought in to help solve a kidnapping case of newborn babies. The hero who hired her, accepted the job as police chief to get away from his dysfunctional family.

Finally, one last book I’d like to have in a movie is Blue As Sapphires. A woman escapes from her abusive ex-husband by coming back to her hometown to start over. She comes in contact with the man who she had a crush on when she was a teenager. Riley is the town’s sheriff, and loves his community. He’s determined to get Marissa back into the community and its people while she would rather spend her time digging for gold and searching for sapphires.

  1. I'd love to see a couple of mine made into movies. I wrote a historical one, in particular, Home to Singing Trees, that I went so far as to choose the cast for. Sometimes when I watch HM or Lifetime movies, I get the old "I could do better..." feeling. :-)

  2. Years ago I read a series of books called The Orphan Train Adventures by Joan Lowery Nixon. I believe this series would make great movies. Unfortunately, Ms. Nixon has passed away. Love her books though.

    1. I thought I saw that as a movie, but maybe it was a different book. Was quite a few years ago.
There's one from 1979. Thought there was a more recent on on Hallmark, but don't see it.

  3. Haha! Yeah, my books wouldn't fit a Hallmark movie either!! I'd love for my Storms of New England series to me made into a mini-series! And yes, your Love A Second Time Around would be a GREAT movie!!

  5. I've heard some writers "see" their book like a movie in their mind as they write.

  6. Can the cookbook be made into a movie (romance of cooking, misadventures in cooking, etc.?)

  7. I see my opening scene as a movie but not the entire book. I'd love to have any of mine made into a movie--and the later ones would fit as Hallmark movies. Wouldn't it be exciting to get a movie deal?

  8. I see most of my books as conversations happening in a movie. It's taken me practice to learn to get that camera to pan out!! Lots of fun thinking of about it.

  9. I TOTALLY "see" my books play out as movies, as Kathleen mentioned. And, as Kari said, I'm never going to be on Hallmark Channel. Haha The current ones are too spicy. Fun Post, Constance!

  13. Hey, you didn't say who you'd cast in the starring roles! Got any leading men and ladies to take on the movie roles?
