Need A Summer Soundtrack? by @ElsaKurt #RomanceGems

See the source imageI LOVE summer. I live for it. Spring is nice, fall is nice, winter is hell on earth. But summer? With its green grass and blooming flowers, suntan lotion (Bain de Soleil, please and thank you) and endless sun? I mean, you had me at green grass.

I spend every possible minute outside. Including right now, at 6:09 pm, as I type this. As usual, I have my summer soundtrack playing in the background and the dogs coming in and out periodically (too hot for them to stay out long). I'm considering a cocktail. Mohito? Yes, I think so.

So, anyhow, I... What's that? You'd like to know what I'm listening to? Oh, sure! Happy to share. I have to warn you, though. It's a long playlist, and I'm still adding to it. For me, music is right up there with writing. I can't imagine a day without either. The more the better...

Which means... I need your help. Please comment below with your all-time favorite summer song(s) so I can add them to mine! Any genre, any decade... it's all good in my book. ;) Ah, segue time. Hmm, let's see. What's new in bookland? I'm working on a semi-secret project, so that's fun. I promise, you'll be one of the first ones in the loop. Otherwise, all the kids (books) are lined up and ready to be your next summer read! Next month I'll try to be more exciting. xoxo

  1. Summer in the City (Lovin' Spoonful), Seasons in the Sun, Good Vibrations (or anything Beach Boys or Jan & Dean), anything Chad & Jeremy... Am I dating myself? Say it isn't so! A great post. Enjoy these lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

  2. Anything by the Beach Boys, but Good Vibrations is a must. This summer I've been listening to a lot of Drew Fish Band, but not because their songs remind me of summer. I just like him! Especially Baby Just Let Go.

  3. Semi-secret project huh? I love those! As for summer music, everyone else has already mentioned my favs. But there’s one I still like: School’s Out (Alice Cooper?) Weird right? But then I also LOVE hearing White Christmas by Doug and the Slugs all summer long.

  4. When I think summer beach songs, I always thing of the Beach Boys, and anything 70's. I grew up with beach towels, laying out with the radio, baby oil with iodine (anyone else?), and long days at the lake. Sigh. Oh, to be young again....

  5. I love the summer also and always want to be outside. We have a screen porch so even if it's raining, I'm outside on that. Reading, writing, enjoying nature. Can't wait to see what your newest project is!

  6. Another summer, outdoors enthusiast here. Liz already mentioned Summer in the City, and I second.

  7. Summer days are precious. Maybe because the season is short in NH. Love each day except those odd cold ones that pop up. Enjoy yours.

  8. I love summer, too. TOTALLY wish I was traveling though, as it's a great time for adventuring and road-tripping. Best of luck with your new project. As for songs... Wipe Out by the Surfaris is a classic.

  10. Summer music...aside from the obvious ones, Wild Thing comes to mind. Don't know why. Anyone remember that one?

  11. Like the other summer song suggestions, and I'll add 2 faves on my playlist. "In the Summertime" by Mungo Jerry and "Kokomo" by the Beachboys. Happy Summer, Elsa.
