The music, like writing, has been an integral part of our life together. If he goes a day without playing, I'm afraid he's ill. If I'm not in my office, he wonders why not.
Something Duane often does, because he feels every song he sings (side note, if you want emotion from a guy, put a guitar in his hands), is look up the story behind the song. One of his favorites is "Save the Last Dance for Me." When I first heard the legend of Last Chance Beach the lyrics of the song began their dance through my head. Go ahead and look them up--I'll wait.
It's such a romantic song, isn't it? And such a romantic story. And...Last Chance Beach. It's going to be romantic, too. I just know it is.
Keep an eye out...

Yes! Guys always show more emotion when they play a guitar! It's sooo great. I love "Save the Last Dance for Me". It's fun to sing to! I'm looking forward to Last Chance Beach, too!
ReplyDeleteI could stand it if I could wring a little more emotion from him other times, too, :-), but the music in him is very precious to me, too.
DeleteThe Drifters always get me and Save the Last Dance is one of my favorites! Can't wait for Last Chance Beach!!
ReplyDeleteWe are anxious, too!
DeleteNothing like a musician in the family.
ReplyDeleteWe do have lots of entertainment that way. Our trumpet-playing grandson seems to have inherited that particular gene, too.
DeleteI had to laugh over your comment about a guy and a guitar. Earlier this year, my eldest son was quarantined after a military trip to the UK. He was stuck alone on base in the barracks. My daughter wanted to cheer him up, so she delivered his guitar and even bought him a smaller, portable amplifier. He was one happy camper and, once he got home, I've no doubt she was rewarded.
ReplyDeleteOh, good for her. I've always said Duane could give me up a lot quicker than he could give up either the guitar or the TV remote. We've laughed about it for years. He thinks I'm kidding. :-)
DeleteYou've given me a fun earworm today. Been a long while since I've heard this song. I love the cover for Something New! And Last Chance Beach beckons...
ReplyDeleteIt does, doesn't it? I love the cover, too. Shout-out to Maddie James!
DeleteNow you've got me humming the song--and you do NOT want me humming or singing near you. So, when my husband comes to see what has me crying or what hurts that I'm moaning, I'll blame you.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, we should sing together! I am the same way. Thank goodness the kids took after their dad.
DeleteFun name for the band. No room for error there.
ReplyDeleteLol. They liked it, thank goodness.
DeleteTwo artists in the family. Now that's a house filled with talent.
ReplyDeleteIt also gets "hormonal" at times! Lol.
DeleteI'm blessed with a husband who loves to go out dancing and we follow a certain doo wop band. That's one of the frequent songs. Yes, it's very romantic!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love doo wop, and I love to dance--although my two left feet go right along with my voice. Sigh.
DeleteWow, I love music to inspire me when I write. You have your own personal source right there. What a great house.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nora!
DeleteWhat a lovely story. You two make a great couple, I am sure! Can't wait to read your story!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maddie. We kind of laugh because we ARE a great couple, except for when we're not!
DeleteTwo artists in the family—great fun! Love your cover and I’m looking foreword to reading your story!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I can't wait to read yours, too. I think perfume is interesting!
