Veranda Beach? Balcony City? by @BonnieEdwards #RomanceGems

When we were young and broke we didn't have the money for a fancy vacation and exotic travel was for other people. Most of us back then had no choice but to opt for Veranda Beach (if you lived in a house) or Balcony City if you lived in an apartment that actually had a balcony. Once we were homeowners we graduated to heading out with a tent to a campground or hitting Backyard Valley. (I've been known to soak my tootsies in my babies' blow up pool.)

With the warnings to stay close to home this summer and international travel curtailed, I'm excited to share that even though you're hanging out at home, you can visit Last Chance Beach for a wonderful, romantic escape!

Here's my cover for Hangover Husband:

What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there...

Sometimes youthful crushes can carry over into adulthood.

Hangover Husband is a sweet, sassy friends-to-lovers short story.

Hangover Husband was born in my mind several years ago and I never got a handle on a conflict that would be strong enough to carry the weight of a full-length novel or novella. But I loved the idea of a hasty Vegas wedding and the aftershocks it could cause.

What seems like a good idea after a fun night on the town, can seem like a disaster in the bright light of day.

What's a girl to do but ask for an equally hasty divorce?

The writers who've brought Last Chance Beach: Summer's End to life invite you to hang out, put your feet up, sip a tall cool one and enjoy all that summer has to offer: sunshine, cool shade, great drinks and the most romantic stories you'll find!

AVAILABLE FOR PRE-ORDER NOW! AT THE AMAZING PRICE OF 99 PENNIES

    1. Maybe those phrases are regional. I'm from Toronto so it could be that. But all my broke young friends said it. A tent in a provincial park was a step up! LOL

  2. We spent a lot of time in Back Yard Paradise on those early-years vacations. I can recommend it! :-) Great cover, Bonnie.

  3. I did a lot of pretend vacations in the backyard. We didn't have the money, either. We did go to the beach because it was close enough and we didn't need to stay overnight. Your addition to Last Chance Beach sounds great! I've always wondered about those hasty Vegas weddings, too!

  4. I had so much fun writing Hangover Husband, especially in the pandemic lockdown. It lightened my heart to step away and write something short, sweet and sassy. I hope readers are swept into all our stories too. It's the least we can do for them!

  5. We had a small above ground pool growing up so we never had to go anywhere else. We swam in it almost the whole day long.

  6. I've become a permanent resident of balcony city since late January. My neighbors and I share coffee a couple of mornings a week, each of us on our respective balcony. Can't wait to read Hangover Husband. Actually, I can't wait to read them all !!!

  7. Our summers when I was young were always a staycation. Now it's trendy. Anyone else sleep in a tent in the backyard with a friend, and sneak out?

  8. Veranda Beach and Balcony City sound like a fun way to make the best of staying at home. One time, my friend and I set up a tent in her huge back and side yard, while the men played ball. It took some time, because we were laughing so hard and trying to hold up the poles. I think we asked for help pounding in the stakes. I ended up sleeping on a bed in the house, sharing a room with a gerbil.

    1. I’d have opted for the inside bed too! Sleeping on the ground was always the worst!

  9. I'm not one for camping, but I have been on a balcony holiday or two.

  10. Backyard Paradise is my life this summer. Grateful to have a pool, as that helps. Yet another reason I can't wait to catch that ferry over to Last Chance Beach. I'll definitely buy you a drink. Vegas was a popular destination for work. Your title Hangover Husband reminds me of a particular celebrity's mishap. Can't wait to read your story.
