An Unexpected Heroine by @BonnieEdwards #RomanceGems

Last year, I asked aloud on Facebook what people would think of a heroine who had lots of children from different fathers.  It was an interesting mix of reactions. Let's face it, romance heroines are expected to be smart, courageous, larger-than-life, sympathetic and, in a way, represent a person the reader would like to be.

But women can find themselves in love more than once. Mistakes happen, especially in our youth. Babies are born, and not all men are keepers.

One comment came something like this: I'm not sure if she'd make a great heroine, but I'd love to see how you handle it, Bonnie.

I often have a theme in my books: Don't judge until you've walked in her shoes.

And this is that book. Elle Foster is the sister of the hero from Finding Mercy and comes with baggage...a whole carload.

FREE TODAY ONLY!

Loving Logan is the second book in my current series Return to Welcome.

Elle Foster is a woman struggling to support four children while juggling an ex-husband's demands, newly-interested grandparents, the memory of a dead ex and the nasty gossip and rumors that abound in the seemingly idyllic town of Welcome, WA.

Into this mix strides Logan Hughes, a man who wants nothing more than children of his own. Adopted, Logan needs to see his eyes looking back at him, wants to recognize himself in a child.

Is that so much to ask?

It is if the woman you love has vowed to NEVER get pregnant again.

Loving Logan, Return to Welcome Book 2 is FREE Feb 5 - ONLY

Loving Logan is a standalone romance with depth, that "captivates and entertains" with a heroine not usually seen in romance.

    1. thanks Satin, the few reviews I have are all great...and not one censures the heroine for her mistakes. Mostly they think she’s a pretty darn good mom.

  3. I like the idea. Keeps the heroine on her toes and I know lots of mixed families in real time. Good luck. What a great idea!

    1. I moved it to the top of my TBR pile and just finished! Loved it! Such a sweet story. The thing I really loved was that her kids weren't the typical brats many authors write about. They were real but well behaved and loved their mother to bits! What a great mom to instill such loyalty in her kids!

  6. I've never read anything like it but I'm willing to read anything romance. Life happens and you're so right, there's men out there who don't stick around. There's an authenticity to your heroine when she's real with her struggles. I picked up my copy, thanks!

  8. I realize now why it took years to sell my first book to Kensington books and Harlequin...they couldn’t figure out what to do with or how to market my heroines! I’m always writing different types:tow truck drivers, pawn shop owners, and more.

  11. Hey, Bonnie, just now getting around to reading your delightful post. Had to laugh because I wrote a book like this in 2011 called OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW BETTER. My heroine had 3 daughters and a truck load of emotional baggage. Thanks for making LOVING LOGAN free. Can't wait to read it.

  12. I like that you tackled this topic bcz it's true that you don't know what someone's going through unless you've walked in their shoes. My first husband walked out on me and our two kids. My 2nd husband passed away leaving behind our son. None of these were my fault but I had 3 kids that to the outside looked like I was not responsible. I look forward to reading your book
