Back to...me? @BonnieEdwards #RomanceGems

Our theme this month includes the words "back to you" which you would assume means, me. No no no. THIS is what it means:

Meet Oscar, my reading companion...this month it's "back to you, Oscar."

But it also means this:
eucatrastrophe (noun) [yoo-kuh-tas-truh-fee]

Definition: A happy ending to a story.

After months of interruptions with hard family news, I plan to get back to writing just as soon as I can. I need to get back to me, in spite of Oscar assuming it's all about him. So there's this to look forward to:

Funny how often writing is associated with typewriters, isn't it? Authors now use desktop computers, laptops, mobile devices, and even phones to get the words out of their heads and onto the page.

Still, I love this circa 1900 typewriter. I've only had it a few weeks, but there's something wonderful about having this piece of history in my house.

Don't forget to enter our September Rafflecopter Giveaway – Back to School ... Back to You! The prizes are listed on our GIVEAWAY TAB above, along with the entry form.

We have some fabulous prizes with YOU in mind so don't miss out.

Happy reading and may this month let you get back to you: your routine, your time for you and more...

  1. Love the typewriter! Other than the fact that the one I learned on said "Royal" instead of "Underwood," they look a lot the same.

  2. I read a very popular book that was actually made into a movie and the hero dies at the end. I was so invested in the characters that it broke my heart, then pissed me off. I don't want my hero to die at the end. In my opinion, a true romance doesn't kill off the hero or heroine. I read romance with the expectation of a happily ever after.

    2. I've noticed several so-called romances written by men have the heroine die in the end. Is this a man's idea of eucatastrophe?

    3. Exactly, which is why I will never read another book by a popular author. She killed off the heroine after leading the reader on the journey of her re-connecting with her estranged father, bonding with her son, meeting and marrying a great man--then pow! she dies. I was so angry at the author. I felt cheated.

    4. They shouldn’t lead readers astray when the story is a tragedy. that is not the expectation of a romance.

  3. Royals, Remingtons and Underwoods...a lot of writers used them! And along came the IBM Selectric!

  6. Great word. Great typewriter. Back to you is always how it ought to be. As women, we are often good at outting ourselves last. Sometimes it can't be helped. Other times it's a bad habit.

    1. There are times we need to lend a hand. But it’s important to nurture ourselves too.

  7. How do you do, Oscar? Nice to meet your reading companion, Bonnie. I have my grandfather's portable Underwood typewriter, circa 1920's. It weighs a ton. *LOL*

  8. Oscar is the PURfect reading buddy! (sorry...hahaha) And your typewriter find is fantastic. An antique store find or family heirloom? I wish you many great words, calmer times ahead, and all the peace and happiness you can imagine. Here's to "back to you!"

    1. Antique store find! It’s so heavy I had to get the car so dh didn’t have to carry it far. We were at a street fair and I squealed when I saw it in the window.

  10. I hope your life (and mine) quiets down soon. I love writing. While I do love my family an amazing amount, I long for a quiet existence with no drama.
